About the Artist:
Elizabeth Ogunjemilusi is a Nigerian-born visual artist who currently resides in Bristol and specializes in figurative drawing and painting.  She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in visual arts from the University of Lagos, Nigeria as a Graphic Design major.

Her work revolves around the society subjugating the identity, values and gender roles of African women. She encourages them to embrace their unique identity and rely on their inner-self.  Questioning the societal value on the female gender and how they fit into this contemporary environment.

Elizabeth tries to contextualize beauty and unique identities through an ensemble of shapes, symbols, patterns, colours and ideas with a major focus on African women. She portrays significant facial features evoking feelings by exploring different media such as oil paint, acrylic, pastels, charcoal, mixed media depending on the body of work or project.
